Molina High School challenges you to read One Million Words!!!
The Million Word Challenge
Each student at Molina High School is challenged to read 1,000,000 words
this school year. The words are from books that are not part of the regular
school curriculum. For you to reach the million word goal, you need to read
25 books of at least 150 pages of small type. Books with illustrations must
exceed the 150 pages for them to count. The books must be checked out from
the school library OR be pre-approved by one of the librarians. Molina will
be competing with Sunset, and perhaps Adamson, to see which school has the
most million word readers.
Additionally, Molina High School is trying to read 100 million words this
school year. If you don’t feel that you can read 25 books from October 1 to
May 1, then contribute your words to the overall total. We are also
challenging our elementary schools - Bethune, Cochran, Cowart, Salazar, and
Soto – and Stockard, our middle school, each to read 100 million words as
well. Help us win the Oak Cliff Million Word Challenge.
We will cap off our reading with a community book fair, held here at Molina,
one Saturday in May. Million Word winners at Molina will receive
recognition at the Awards Assemblies in early May and will be honored on the
Million Word Wall.
