The National Library of Virtual Manipulatives has fantastic FREE
hands on manipulatives that really help students understand
concepts. For the first six weeks, Chapter 4 skills, I recommend
using:
Fractions-Equivalent: students can see the same area divided into
equal pieces
Fractions-Comparing: students create common denominators by using
same principles learned in Fractions-Equivalent
Fractions-Adding: takes students completely through the process
of finding common denominators, rewriting the fractions, and
adding the pieces.
All of these are GREAT!! (Please note: You do NOT have to
download the free trial to use this site.)
