Hello Students! This is so exciting! I'm not even sure where to begin since I
have a whole page just to talk about me. There is so much to tell! Do I begin
with my Academy Awards? Or, wait, do I start with my Miss USA title? Maybe you
all would like ot hear about my MTV awards first? Decisions, decisions!
I actually didn't start teaching school until I was 29 years old. This is
amazing because I'm still 29 years old!
I was born and raised in El Paso, TX. They actually were thinking of changing
the name of El Paso in honor of me but I told them to keep it the same. To me,
"Her Majesty, TX." just didn't sound right.
I received my Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of
Texas at El Paso where I was named Homecoming Queen all eight years that I
attended. Ok, maybe that's not quite true, it was really four year.
Since then, I've earned a Master's Degree in Education with a specialty in
Distance Learning which means if I stand on one side of a football field and
you stand on the other, I'm an excellent teacher, in fact, a master!
I've completed a second Master's Degree in Educational Administration. Hey,
I'm also a Web Master. Are you seeing a pattern here?
Well, I was a junior high math teacher for well over one hundred years! (Dear
Reader, please tell me that you do not really think I taught for over 100
years. It would mean a lot to me! It's not very funny that no one ever looks
surprised when I say that!) Ok, so, here's the real deal, I was a junior high
math teacher for 16 years. (Go ahead, applaud, I'll wait!)
Then, I was lucky enough to become an administrator with the Ysleta
Independent School District in El Paso, Texas where I was an Instructional
Technology Trainer. That's right, I was IT!!!!!! Get it, Instructional starts
with an "I" and Technology starts with a "T" and so I was "IT!" (I am now
pausing for the uproar of laughter. Um, listen up, Readers, I am just going to
stand here until you laugh.) I spent almost two years in this position and
loved every minute of it! (Sigh, not the standing position, the position of
IT Trainer! If I stood for two years, that could be a problem, you know!)
Last year, our family medical situation brought us to the Houston area. We
packed up our covered wagon, herded up the buffalo, and made our way through
the blizzards and burning sun to our new home in Houston. We found some wood
and began to build our little cabin in the woods. The only problem was that
Mr. and Mrs. Woods asked us to leave so then we found another place and
settled down.
So, my husband, Doug, and I along with my daughter Marki, her husband,
Michael, and my four grandsons, Quest (age 13), Zak (age 7), Sutton (age 4),
and M.J. (born 12/30) are here and enjoying our new surroundings. My youngest
daughter, Carli, lives in Hawaii with her husband, Ekkie, and my new
granddaughter, Addy. They are the awesome, incredible people you see
above this info.
So, there you have it! I'm going to leave you now so you can reflect on this
awesome experience with my personal photograph. It was my prom picture!
Whatcha' think of it?
