What time does school begin each day at the Magnolia campus?

The doors to the gymnasium open each day at our Magnolia campus 
at 7:15. 
Students may enter the gym and proceed to the cafeteria for 
breakfast. 
Students leave the gym with their teachers immediately after the 
pledges and 
are considered tardy after 8:00. If you arrive before 8:00 and 
after the 
back doors to the gym are closed, please take your student 
directly to the 
classroom. If you arrive after 8:00, please take your student to 
the front 
office to receive a tardy slip and then escort your child to the 
classroom.

What time does school begin each day at the Lamar campus?

The doors will open at 7:30 at the Lamar campus. School begins 
promptly at 
8:00 and all students arriving after 8:00 will need a tardy slip 
to enter 
the classroom.

What time should I pick up my student from school?

Elementary students at the Lamar campus are dismissed at 3:20 M-
Th and at 
12:15 on Fridays. Students MUST be picked up no later than 3:45 M-
Th and 
12:40 on Fridays.
Students in grades K-3 at the Magnolia campus are dismissed at 
3:30 on M-Th 
and at 12:15 on Fridays. Only those families with older siblings 
may choose 
to have their older students return to the Magnolia campus after 
school, and 
parents must be waiting for the bus to arrive at 3:50. All 
students MUST be 
picked up from school each day no later than 4:00 M-Th and 12:45 
on Fridays.

May I eat lunch with my child?

Of course!  Please remember to sign in at the office and obtain 
your NYOS 
visitor's badge. Also, please check with your child's teacher for 
the 
appropriate lunch time. If you plan to purchase a tray, it is a 
good idea to 
let the teacher know so that the lunch count for the day can be 
adjusted.

What is the NYOS uniform?

Students are required to wear the NYOS uniform on Monday-
Thursday. The 
uniform consists of khaki or navy bottoms and red, white, or blue 
polo or 
collared shirts (no logos or designs of any type are permitted), 
and closed 
toed shoes. Students may also wear khaki or navy bottoms with a 
NYOS t-
shirt. Fridays are "free dress" days and students may 
wear appropriate 
attire of their choice to school.

May I visit in my child's classroom?

We welcome parental support at our school and you are welcome to 
assist in 
your child's classroom. It is required, however, that you 
schedule your 
visit with the classroom teacher in advance.

Can I drop my child off in the front parking lot at Magnolia?

The answer to this question is no. The front parking lot is 
strictly for 
parents who choose to park and walk their child/children inside 
the 
building. If you prefer to drop your child/children off you must 
use the 
back parking lot where students are assisted in exiting their 
cars and 
are escorted into the gymnasium.
