***A RED READING FOLDER goes home daily with your child's literacy book,
snap word envelope, and a reading log. These must be returned daily!
****Please make sure you are reading with your child at least 10-15 minutes
daily. Research shows that this has a positive effect on overall academic
performance.
-Don't forget to sign your child's reading log after THEY write down the
date and the title. Reading Logs are checked daily!
***Snap words envelopes should be reviewed daily!
- SNAP WORDS are high frequency sight words which, almost by definition,
rarely follow any rules. They just have to be memorized so students can use
them in reading and writing in a “snap”.
Practice reading the snap words in the envelope nightly before or after you
read together. Brain research suggests that as we involve more senses in
acquiring knowledge, we are better able to retain and recall that knowledge.
So please try some of the ideas listed on the envelope to make your practice
more effective and fun! Each nine weeks, we will check to see which words
your child can read!
