| Dear Parent/Guardian:
Welcome to a new school year! We are the fourth grade teachers this year. We
are delighted to have the opportunity to work with you and your child this
year. We are looking forward to a very successful year and we know you are,
too. We have high expectations for your child, and we will be doing all that
we can to help your child achieve those expectations.
We will provide a stimulating environment that engages your child's
curiosity and interest in learning. We will use manipulatives such as math
balls, math card games, and other "hands on" materials to increase their
mathematical skills. Reading skills will increase through the use of
independent reading, novels read aloud, literature circles, and small
reading groups. We will practice our writing skills through word walls,
lessons on punctuation, journal writing, essay writing, and other research
projects utilizing the computer lab. We will also have opportunities to
learn through social studies and science projects. Homework will be assigned
Monday through Thursday. Each student should spend about 20 minutes on
homework each day.
We want you to know that one of our most important goals this year is to
keep the lines of communication open with you. Please do not hesitate to
call us during our conference time. You may also request a conference
whenever necessary. Thank you for your time and support.
