Should I help my child with homework?

Yes! Providing a quiet place for your child to complete homework
assignments
is a great first step. Allow your child to complete assignments
independently as much as possible, then check over the work, help them make
the necessary corrections and do listen to them read. Shared reading
sometimes is best, especially if your child is reading a difficult selection
or repeatedly reading the same story several times in a week.

Can I expect more homework in Third Grade?

While we will not have "more" homework, the work becomes even more important
at this level. We will be addressing TAKS strategies throughout the year
that
your child will need to practice at home, with certain reading and math
assignments.

How can I help my child prepare for TAKS?

You can... assist your child with homework assignments daily,
review "graded
work papers" as they are sent home and help your child make needed
corrections. Last, but not least, "encourage" your child so he/she feels
confident in work completed. This does help each student develop a healthy
attitude towards school work and builds motivation to continue to work hard!

Are parents important in the learning process?

Yes! You are the MOST important part of your child's educational
experience! If you model the importance of learning and doing well in
school, your child will want to follow your example. Thank you so much for
the FINE job you already do!!! It really shows here at school.
