Current events are going great- it is so informative for all of us to hear
what each child presents and encourages intelligent discussion. We have
stopped doing oral reports this 6 weeks due to two lost days of LEAP (Outdoor
School and my meeting). We need all the time we have to complete our unit on
Perceptions.
Students continued working on their "photo essay" which is a poster that
illustrates who they are in 3 perspectives. These will be completed next
Tuesday in class- if not, they will need to take home to finish it.
We began our novel, The View From Saturday, and are learning the characters
(known as "The Souls"). As we get deeper into the book we will use our
knowledge of "perceptions" and how it relates to each of these characters.
Students enjoyed watching an old episode of The Twilight Zone as we learned
that the perception of beauty is truly in the "Eye of the beholder".
Students need to have their Self Discovery questionnaire completed when they
come to class next Tuesday (10th). They will need this in order to begin
their final performance task for this unit (which we have gone over in detail
and is under documents on mysite).
Students also need to be thinking of a song-a "theme" song that represents
their life. I will collect all the songs and play them and see if we can
guess which songs belongs to whom. This will need to be told to me on Tuesday
the 17th.
