We continue to alternate our activities so we are still working on hot air
balloon cartoons and world team books but hope to finish those this week.
Students began a geography lesson on islands by locating different islands
all over the world. They are also researching characteristics that all
islands share. This will need to be completed Monday Nov. 9 (I will give some
time in class)or it will be homework. Many have already finished this.
We will begin our "Create an Island" project. Students will use their
acquired knowledge about islands to create an imaginary island. They will
follow a step by step process on how to do this including using the writing
process to create a well written advertisement for the island. They will have
to create a bird'e eye view map of the island including a key, name and
compass rose. The island will have to have a "Secret" (like Krakatoa did in
The 21 Balloons).
We are going to hold off on our "real" research project until after
Thanksgiving, though I have gone over an overview of what they are going to
be doing.
