Island Projects should be complete, except for possibly a bit of coloring to
finish up.
We learned about note taking and did some examples using a graphic organizer.
We also did some oral activities on paraphrasing and the students did
exceptionally well on this. After the holiday, we will continue with other
research skills such as avoiding plagiarism, paraphrasing and notetaking
while beginning our research on our celebration/holiday.
Students have already decided what notetaking
organizer they will use. We are following the "Big 6" as our research
model.The focus of the research will be skills and organizing of research,
but the actually culmination of research will be in a product, rather than a
formal paper. We will go over this info in class and it will be brought home
for you to review also. Not as formal as years before, but still very
effective.
