Dear Parents,
Well here we are into the 5th week of our school year together! The
kids and I are all feeling the same, "YEA beginning of year testing is
complete!" This week we will start our Guided Reading/Reading Workshop
rotations. During this time your child will be grouped with students of
their same ability to read with me. They will also move to 4 other stations
consisting of computer, listening to a story on tape and making a journal
response, skill sheet and working with our daily parent helper on various
activities.
We will be starting Terrific Texan and Mac's Travels this week.
I am going to model both of these activities this week!
Terific Texan
Each child will have a turn to be our class Terrific Texan.
A note will be sent home the week prior to your child's Texan Week explaining
all the details. (You'll will have 9 days to prepare)
I will follow our class list alphabetically by last name.
****Our Terrific Texas for the week of Sept.21-25 is Ms. Baldini.
Our class pet, Mac the Manatee has also begun his weekend travels. Mac will
visit each of the children's homes for a weekend. He travels in a backpack
with a Journal, and photos of his visit are encouraged.
He is currently at Ms. Baldini's house.
Each child will have the opportunity to take Mac home. I have a cup of
sticks which have each of the kid's numbers, if I pull the stick that has
your child's number on it they get to take Mac home.
(I will not send Mac home on the same weekend that your child is the
Terrific Texan) :)
