Cedar Valley Middle School & Walsh Middle School Partners in Physical Education & Adapted Physical Education 1st 6 weeks Parent Update 8/25-9/25 We had a busy and fun 1st 6 weeks in Partners in PE/APE! We focused on the following Sports/Activities: COOPERATIVE GAMES BOWLING SKILLS & GAMES BOWLING SKILLS & GAMES DANCE-POPULAR GROUP DANCES, PARTNER DANCING, AND ETIQUETTE VOLLEYBALL-SKILLS VOLLEYBALL-BEACHBALL VOLLEYBALL-BOUNCE/TRAINER The next six weeks we will be focusing on the following Sports/Activities: SOCCER-SKILLS SOCCER-SMALL GAMES (CRAB SOCCER) SOCCER-SCRIMMAGES FOOTBALL-SKILLS FOOTBALL-SMALL GAMES FITNESSGRAM-FITNESS ASSESSMENT What does Partners in PE mean? Partners in PE is a reverse inclusion class meaning that general education students are brought into a special education setting to work as peer buddies with students with disabilities. Partners in PE/APE Weekly Schedule Monday: Track Day Students walk/run a half a mile with their partners, working on Individual Educational Programs (IEPs) goals or fitness levels. Tuesday: IEP Day Students and their partners work on their IEPs every Tuesday. Partners document their students’ progress each week. Wednesday-Friday: Sport Unit We work on 14 different sports units during the year. Some of these sports units include: basketball, soccer, bocce, and horseshoes.
