Your Dig Begins With a Good Book
for 2nd graders
January - May
The rules for 2nd grade are:
- Pick any one of the books in the library that
has a yellow dot sticker on the binding.
- Read the book.
- Take the reading comprehension test for the book you read using the Accelerated Reader software. The number of points
you'll get for this book will depend on the difficulty of the book and how well you
remember and understood what you read.
- Whenever you advance a level, you receive an
incentive to try for the next level. Congratulations!
Each student is given a bookmark which shows how
many points s/he must earn to advance to the next level. (The teacher helps the student
determine a reasonable goal for the program using the teacher's familiarity with the
student's abilities and the student's reading level.)
