Brrrrr!!

We are having an incredible year which seems to be zipping along rather quickly!  We are enjoying a great year of discovery in our awesome Third Grade Classroom!  In this nine weeks, we will be exploring many new ideas and concepts in every academic area.

In Language Arts, we are reading a variety of genres, including informational texts and poetry, as well
as responding to other types of fictional text.  Our writing will take us into these same areas also.  We will be learning about Cause and Effect relationships in Fiction and Non-Fiction, determining the Main Idea of what we are reading, as well as how to write a good Summary of what we have read.

In Math, we will continue to recognize and predict patterns, understand and model multiplication and division, and become experts at linear measurement.  We will relate these concepts to the real world and develop strategies for solving problems in these areas.  Please take every opportunity to help your child memorize their multiplication facts.

In Science, we are zooming through Systems, Forces and Motion, and into the outer reaches of the Sun and the Planets.  We will continue to explore these concepts through many hands-on experiences.

In Social Studies, along with our study of Local Government, we will look at the impact of individuals on our lives today.  We will also be sharing information and the history of our family heritages and traditions during this holiday season.

Lastly, I want to thank you for all of your support.  I have had such a wonderful experience getting to know all of your incredible children.  I look forward to an exciting rest of the year!!

As always, please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
