Talk to them about forwards, defenders, and the center. Explain what each of these positions do in a regular game of basketball. Select some students to help demonstrate the proper way to place each position. Learning Experience: This activity is played just like a regular game of basketball except that the players must stay in their squared areas. Divide the class into groups of eight. This should allow for three groups of eight (group A, group B, & group C). Group A & B play, while group C waits on the sideline. Each player has to play in one of the eight squares marked on the court. The players can not move out of their squared area. They bounce the ball and pass it to their teammates in the other boxes. The other team can intercept the ball, but must stay in their squared area as well. After a few minutes, ask group A to come out and have group C come in. Make sure that you identify the basket direction during each court change. Each basket is worth 2 points. The students will rotate squares after each sideline change. This gives everyone a chance to be close enough to the basket to make points. Variation: Use scrimmage vests to help better identify the differences
