Weekly Test

This is a brief explanation about weekly test. Each child has a different
learning style, so it is necessary to work out a routine at home in order to
suit the child’s needs. Some children need more time in order to prepare for
tests or homework that is sent home. Please help in coordinating your
child’s time with daily school work as well as outside activities. It is my
goal to help each child develop responsibility in completing homework
assignments as well as studying skills. But I will need the parent’s
cooperation in reinforcing the skills, which have been taught in class. It is
very important to uphold to these guidelines in order to make this school
year a success.

          1. Assignment Notebook- Your child will be bringing home on a
daily basis his/her assignment notebook. It is the child’s responsibility to
record ALL homework assignments or tests dates. They are to take home any
needed materials (textbooks, workbooks, worksheets or binders), to help
complete any assignments. Any message pertaining to your child from a
teacher will also be found in the assignment notebook. There is a space for
comments if needed, so please look carefully. The parent’s signature may be
requested on a daily basis in their child’s assignment notebook if needed.
This will help you be aware of any comments or homework assignments for each
day.

          2. Spelling Test – Your child will be bringing home a list of
spelling words (in their workbooks), every Monday. They are to review these
words at home. We will test every Wednesday over the Unit word list, mastery
and bonus words for the week.

         3. Reading Vocabulary Test- Your child will be bringing a list of
vocabulary words every Monday. They will be tested on the definition of the
words. They will also need to be able to complete a given sentence using the
vocabulary words. They will have a multiple choice ( a, b, c, d)
comprehension test over the story too. The test will be every Friday.

Accelerated Reading Points count as a Test Grade too.

        4. English Test- Your child will be having a Chapter test over the
three lessons we have covered in class. We spend a week over three lessons
with reviews. Test will be on the following week, usually on Tuesday. If
there is a change, the child will be notified. (Most of their Tests come from
the back of their textbook in the Extra Practice Chapter section.)

       5. Social Studies- Test dates will vary, the child will be notified
on the dates ahead of time. Test will sometimes come from Study Notes taken
in class.
