Elements of ART are Line, Shape, Color, Texture, and Form. Line: short, long, thick, thin, broken, vertical, horizontal, diagonal, spiral, curvey, wavy, zig-zag. Shape: square, triangle, oval, rectangle, circle, organic, geometric. Color: primary: red, blue, yellow;, secondary: green, orange, purple; terciary: blue-purple, red-purple, blue-green, yellow-green, red-orange, yellow-orange. Texture: rough, smooth, soft, hard, bumpy, fluffy etc. Form: 3-dimensional , cube, cone, cylinder, sphere, prism.

Welcome to the Sommer ART Website.  In our art program, we teach 
the 'Elements of Art' and the 'Principles of Design' to help our students 
learn the basic concepts when communicating in the Fine Arts.  
The 'Elements' are the tools we use to actually make art and 
the 'Principles' are the tools we use to organize our ideas.  Every art 
project is based on an Art Historical period and a featured artist.  Be sure 
to ask your child about the art ideas in progress and encourage creativity 
in all aspects of learning.
