Thank you for visiting our class website! Check back often for updates. I want to thank you all for the amazing gifts, cards, and flowers for Teacher Appreciation week. I have such a special class this year and am sad to see the year quickly coming to an end. Thank you! Important Information: Muffins with Mom will be held on May 8th. Our field trip to Pioneer Farms will be Friday, May 11th. We will be taking a walking tour of the farm buildings and having a picnic lunch. Some things to remember to make the day successful: * Remember to send a disposable sack lunch with your child or let me know that your child will need to purchase one from the cafeteria. * The walking tour is approximately 1 mile, and the terrain is a bit rough in places. Please make sure your child wears comfortable tennis shoes. *Send a snack with your child. We will stop midway through the tour for a snack break. Our 3rd grade Award Ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 24th at 12:25 pm, in our classroom. Every student will be receiving an award. We planned the ceremony to quickly follow lunch, so if you would like to come up and eat lunch with your child before the ceremony, we'd love to have you. The ceremony will be short, so please try to be punctual to avoid missing your child's award. There are usually long lines to check in to get badges, so allow extra time for that. Our End of the Year Party will take place on Friday, May 25th at 1:00 pm. If you would like to attend to help out, we'd love to have you! When a student is absent from school, what is the impact? For the district it is $34.41 – a relatively small number until it is multiplied by the number of students absent on an average day (1,800) for a total loss in funding of $61,938 per day. With 175 instructional days in a school year, this totals to roughly $10.8 million in loss of funding due to student absenteeism. One very simple way to help your school district, and one of extreme value to students, is to ensure that all students are in class every day possible. Under current funding formulas, a 1% increase in attendance would increase state funding by roughly $2.7 million. The annual volunteer tea is scheduled for May 15th. Invitations will come home in Tuesday folders. Hey Dad, want to help make a positive impact on the lives of Pond Springs students, but don't have a lot of time to spend? Come be a "Dad at the Door"! It's really easy- show up at 7:20 and choose your favorite school entrance, smile at and greet kids and parents who are arriving at school, start the day off in a positive way. We'd love to have you any day or every day- just show up. :) Are you a dad who is looking for an opportunity to volunteer at our school? Well, I have just the opportunity for you! Come be a part of our Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) program. For more information, contact Tom Jeffrey, Top DOG, at tyjeffrey@austin.rr.com or Shannon Owens at Shannon_Owens@roundrockisd.org.
