How do I make sure my child understands what is read?

Use the "think alouds" list in the Study Guide section in the binder.

What do I do when my child has trouble recognizing numbers?

Use pennies, buttons, beans, etc...for counting. Count each one and write 
down the matching number. Children need visual and tactile practice counting 
and writing numbers.
