What does a school counselor do?

The professional school counselor is a certified/licensed educator trained 
in school counseling.  Professional school counselors address the needs of 
students though the implementation of a comprehensive developmental school 
counseling program.

Why should we have elementary counselors?

Elementary school is a time when students develop attitudes concerning 
school, self, peers, social groups and family.  It is a time when students 
develop decision-making, communication and life training skills and 
character values.  
Elementary counseling programs are based on prevention, providing goals 
which are integrated into all aspects of children's lives.

What kind of counseling services are provided at Purple Sage?

Individual counseling, small group counseling, consultation services, 
classroom guidance, crisis intervention, prevention programs, transitional 
support, and support services.

What can the school counselor do for my child?

Teach skills in conflict resolution, provide individual or group counseling, 
provide academic support, provide crisis intervention, provide resources, 
assist students to adjust in order to be socially and academically 
successful, provide classroom guidance, and assist in making the school 
atmosphere a positive, safe place whre all students are able to learn and 
develop successfully.

The Purple Sage counseling program is dedicated to respecting the privacy of 
interactions between students and counselors, while respecting the 
importance of communication with parents.

Parents may contact the school counselor by calling  #428-3506 or e-mail at 
tamara_moore@roundrockisd.org.  Students may contact the school counselor by 
telling their teacher,parents or the school counselor herself.
