The library has several reading incentive programs students can participate
in. These include:
1.Birthday Authors Club- Each month books are on display on the various
authors that have a birthday in that month. Students must read at least
three books and come in to discuss the books with me. At the end of each
month they get invited to a birthday party
2.AR- Students read books that have an AR label on them and take a computer
quiz. Certificates are awarded at morning assembly. The end of the year all
students that have completed the program are invited to a celebration.
3.Bluebonnet Books-each year 20 titles are chosen. The students get to vote
in a state wide election in January. The winning author is presented the
Bluebonnet Award at the Librarian's Conference in April. Students are given
till the end of April to read all the titles and get invited to our
celebration.
4.Armadillo Reader's Choice. Ten books are chosen each year by myself and
6 other Round Rock Librarians. We develop TEK related activities that go
along with each book. These are then tied in to the classroom curriculum.
