I am a product of Houston ISD. I grew up in a neighboring community many,
many years ago and attended Longfellow Elementary, Pershing Middle, and
Bellaire High School. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Curriculum and
Instruction (Education) from Texas Southern University (TSU) and
a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from TSU, as well. I hold
teaching certification in the areas of Generic Special Education, English as
a Second Language, Elementary Self Contained (1-8), Gifted and Talented, and
Principal. This is my eleventh year teaching, sixth year at S. C. Red, and
eigth year in Houston ISD. Prior to coming to Houston ISD, I worked in
North Forest ISD for six years, 4 years as a teacher and 2 years as a
secretary. I am the proud mommy of a wonderful nine year old girl. I
make spending time with my family and friends a priority and I hope my love
of reading will be contagious in my classroom. In the near future, I plan
to pursue a Doctorate Degree in Education and eventually teach on the
college level.
My mission for the class is to cultivate independence in the learning
process. I hope to help my students develop into independent thinkers,
where they will seek out ways to solve problems, answer questions, and
produce original works with confidence and self-sufficiency.
