Sick/Absent FAQ: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
My child feels well, but has a fever. Can he/she come to school?
No. Your child must be fever free (without tylenol, motrin, etc) for 24 hours to insure that he is not longer contagious. One of the best ways to prevent the spread of H1N1 influenza is to keep your child home until he is fever free for 24 hours.Back to Top

Can the nurse give medications at school?
I am happy to administer medications that cannot be given at home according to HISD policy. An HISD form must be signed by the doctor and parent. Also the medication must be in the original container labeled by a registered pharmacist. This includes over the counter medications such as cortisone cream and tylenol.Back to Top
