Dear Parents,
Hello again from the Lively Life Skills class! These last few weeks we
have been busy, busy, busy! I think we have the right mascot for our
school...the Busy Bees. I want to extend a special thank you to those of you
who participated in our E-book and Sally Foster fundraisers. The money that
you helped to raise, positively impacts our class with opportunities for
teacher trainings, classroom supply money, among other benefits. Thanks once
again.
I would also like to say a big congratulations to Mia Hardy and Kevin
Llanas. They have a 100% completion rate on their homework and have earned
the Super Duper Homework Trooper award. If your child has not been turning
in homework, there is no time like the present to start. Homework is
important for the same reason it was important for YOU to do homework in
school...to master and generalize skills. That means that every time your
child is exposed to a subject they are more likely to remember the subject;
then, if they are able to preform the same tasks at home (or somewhere else)
as they do at school they have generalized, or carried over that skill. All
students, Special Education or not, need to master and generalize skills. By
making sure that your child has their homework completed and turned in you
are showing your child that what we do in the classroom is important.
Shortly, I will be sending home flash cards. They will have on them the
words that your child is currently reading. Please practice with them as
often as possible. Perfect practice opportunities are...waiting in the
doctor's office, when they are sitting on the toilet, when you're waiting in
line with them, during commercials, etc. Use your creativity and you will
come up with other fun places to practice. Plus, any time you have guests
over, it's a great way to show off your child's progress!
Always remember that if you have any questions about anything we are
doing in class please feel free to contact me at the school, or by e-mail.
Of course, you can also send me a note in your child's folder.

                         Sincerely - Renee' Frau
