Ruby Prince, Computer Magnet Lab
During the month of February our students will become meteorologists. Our
theme is “Weather and Water”. Primary students will use a variety of
software programs. They will use Learn about Weather, Themeweaver Nature,
Kidspiration and Science Blaster Jr. software programs. Students will use a
word processor Storybook Weaver to create their own weather stories.
Primary and intermediate students will use Internet sites to learn about the
water cycle, weather and weather instruments. Intermediate students will
forecast and predict the weather. Fourth and fifth grade students will
create charts and bar graphs in Microsoft Office Excel. My students will
also view movies and take quizzes on Brainpop.com.
Our theme for the month of March is “Animals and their Habitats”. Students
will develop research skills and knowledge with the following software
packages: Learn about Animals, Kidspiration, Storybook Weaver, Amazing
Animals, ThemeWeaver Animals, Thinking Science and a host of Internet sites.
Fourth and Fifth graders will write informative stories. All educational
sites used in our studies are linked to our school’s webpage

We have a wonderful online keyboarding program this year. This program
provides lessons, practices and activity sheets. It is in English in all
grades in and Spanish for grades pre kindergarten to sixth grade. Please
encourage your child to practice his/her keyboarding at home. I have created
accounts for all levels. Perhaps you would like to brush up on your skills.
