Bonjour! My name is MR. PARRACK and I am excited to be your French teacher this year! I will be teaching at Chisholm Trail in the morning, and at Ridgeview in the afternoon. I have been teaching French for nearly 20 years, at middle school, high school and university. I am from Lubbock, TX, and I went to college at Texas Tech and UT. I have lived in the Austin area since 1996. I have travelled extensively throughout France as well as Quebec (French Canada). I have studied French linguistics (the structure of language) and second language acquisition (how people learn a foreign language), and I also have a solid background in French literature and culture. I will remind you that French is a HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT course, and you can expect the class will be intense and fast-paced at times. You will be required to show the MATURITY and RESPONSIBILITY necessary to succeed in an advanced-level class. TUTORIALS: I will be available for tutorials after school Tuesday at Ridgeview and before school Wednesday at Chisholm Trail. Please tell me the day before you would like to attend. Click on SCHEDULE & TUTORIALS in the side menu for times. French IA: Upon passing French IA, you will be eligible to take French IB. Successfully completing IA and IB will give you one year of high school French credit. French IB: Upon passing French IB, you will be eligible to take second-year French in high school. Personal Responsibility In this class, you will be accountable for your learning and your success. You will also be accountable for your actions, and you will treat yourself and others with respect. When you show respect there will be opportunities for reward. When you are disrepectful there will be consequences. In order for you to be successful in French class, you will be responsible for copying and studying your vocabulary and reviewing the day’s lessons at home on a daily basis. You will also be required to participate in class in order to benefit yourself and your classmates. Language is communication and it takes more than one person to communicate!
Monsieur Parrack’s Expectations: RESPECT... The Teacher Your Classmates Yourself Classroom regulations: • Clear water only.
