Mentors/Community Partners

Ridgeview Middle School has a need for community partners willing to mentor
our students. Students in the STARS Mentoring program are pulled out of
class once a week for around 30-45 minutes to meet with mentors; that time
can be spent talking, walking the track, shooting some hoops, or even working
on homework. Our students have various needs that can be fulfilled by adults
who are willing to give a little time and a listening ear.

New mentors must complete a background check each year and complete a one-
time district training with Leonie Dsouza.

For more information about the STARS Mentoring program, please contact the
district mentor coordinator, Leonie Dsouza, at 464-5915 or Ken Damron,
counselor at Ridgeview, at 424-8420.

***Notice: For potential new mentors, there will be a distict-wide mentor
training session on December 4, 2009 at 2pm at the RRISD Administration
Bldg. The training will last approximately one hour.
