Ridgeview Panther Athletics
General Information/Policies

Welcome to Ridgeview Middle School Boys Athletics. Our goal is to provide
our athletes with a positive sport experience while preparing them for high
school athletics. Academic performance is a priority. All athletes must
maintain passing grades in all classes. They must learn how to budget their
time between practice and homework in order to achieve excellence in the
classroom and in their sport.

The safety of our athletes is a priority. Injuries can result in football,
basketball, and track. In our practices, we stress correct techniques and
repeat these each day in drills in order to minimize the risk of injury to
our athletes. All athletes will learn fundamental skills in their sport and
will progress once these skills are mastered.

Building character and integrity is our ultimate goal. All who influence
these young men play a vital role in this process. Parents, teachers,
coaches, peers, and the athlete must work together to achieve this goal.
Ridgeview Panther coaches expect the following from those involved in
Panther Athletics:

1.	Treat others and their property with respect, dignity, and courtesy.
2.	Display good sportsmanship at all times and in all situations.
3.	Be a good student/citizen and comply with school rules, athletic
policies, and requests from teachers, administrators, and coaches.
4.	Be aware at all times that you are a representative of the Panther
Athletic Program. Do not behave in a negative manner that would
discredit your community, school, family, team, coaches, or yourself.

Participation in games will be determined by attendance and performance in
practice. If an athlete must miss practice, the athlete’s parent must send
a note or call the coaches’ office.

Always be aware that participation in athletics is a privilege. Failure to
follow district, school, and athletic policies can result in removal from
the athletic program.

We look forward to meeting and working with the Ridgeview Panther Athletes.

Football Workout Schedules
Teams will practice in the mornings. 8th graders will dress from 6:40-
6:50 and be on the field at 6:55am. They will be released at 8:00 to go to
their advisory class which starts at 8:10. They will workout again during
their 7th period athletic class.
7th graders will dress from 6:50-7:00 and be on the field at 7:05 and
work through their first period.
No early practice will be held the day of the game or the day after the
game. No practice on staff developement days or early release days.

Grades
Athletes must be passing all courses at the six weeks evaluation period
in order to participate in athletic contests. The UIL eligibility calender
determines when they lose and regain eligibility. Students are expected at
all practices regardless of eligibility.

Schedules/Travel/Games
Schedules and links for directions to schools are posted on the
Ridgeview Athletic site.
It is the policy of RRISD that all athletes should ride together to and
from a game. Arrangements must be made 24 hrs. in advance with the
athlete's coach in order for them to leave a contest site. They must be
signed out with the coach. Athletes may only be released to their parents.

Game Day Shirt
Each athlete will purchase a Ridgeview Athletics polo shirt to be worn
on game day. At this point the shirts we are looking at will cost 15.00.
We will get sizes as soon as we have all the athletes in class.

Event/Sportsmanship
Maintain a positive attitude at all times when attending athletic
contests. Allow officials to call the game and coaches to coach. Comments
from the stands often lead to confusion for the athletes. Failure to
display good sportsmanship at any athletic contest can result in removal
from the site.

Should a parent have a concern, always keep in mind that approaching a coach
during or after an athletic contest is not appropriate. You may call and
set up an appointment. Playing time is determined through evaluation in
practice and will be determined by the coach.

Practice
Be on time. Participation in games is based on practice performance.
If an athlete must miss a practice, a parent should provide a written
explantion or call and leave a message for the athlete's coach. Unexcused
absence from practice will prevent the athlete from participating in the
next contest.

Injuries/Illness Notes from a parent to excuse an athlete from
participation are good for three consecutive days. Any time beyond that
point requires a doctor's note explaining the injury, how long a period of
inactivity and when the athlete may return to practice. During this time
the athlete should still attend practice and dress out if possible. This
allows them to miss as little information as possible regarding their
position. It is very important for athletes to notify their coach if an
injury has occured in practice or a game. The training staff at Stony Point
High School has been very helpful and will evaluate our athletes. Parents
will have to provide transportation to Stony Point. To call and set up a
time. 428-7204.

Equipment
Each athlete will be issued a locker and lock. Our dressing area will
be clean when they come in and should be clean when they leave. Nothing
should be left out. It is the athletes responsibility to lock up their
belongings and school issued equipment.
Do not bring Ipods or other listening devices to school or to athletic
events. Phones may not be used during school. These items will be taken to
the front office.
