About The Library Staff

Our Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Towle, and our Library Aide, Mrs.
Yake, are working hard to create an inviting and enjoyable library program
to build students love of reading. Providing students open access to the
library and various events to celebrate reading, we hope to be a postitive
element and encourage students to feel at home when they visit the library.

Mrs. Towle joined Robertson Elementary to open the 2007-2008 school year as
the school's 1st librarian. After teaching elementary school in
Pennsylvania, Germany, and San Antonio, she stayed home for 5 years to raise
her two babies. While at home she continued her education through the
University of North Texas and received a Master's Degree in Library
Science. This will be her third year serving as a school librarian. In her
free time, she enjoys playing with her children, reading, and scrapbooking.
Mrs. Towle resides with her family in Prosper, TX.

A Note from the Librarian

Welcome to the Robertson Elementary Library program. Our library is the
center of the educational experience on our campus. This year is going to
be an exciting year for us all. The library program is planning to make
some changes to better serve everyone who enters. By using the flexible
schedule policy, teachers and students have open access to the library
throughout the day. The library will be open from 7:30 to help those
students who come early to school and are interested in visiting the library
for checkout. Students in every grade level will be given an opportunity to
learn research skills as the teachers and librarian work together to
integrate the classroom curriculum with the library's resources. Unit
research in the library will also continue throughout the 2008-2009 school
year--including kindergarten! While doing research in the library, the
students will learn information seeking strategies, co-operative group
skills, note-taking techniques, and lifetime information skills, in addition
to learning how research can be FUN!

We also believe that the Robertson Library is not only a support for
teachers, students, and administrators, but PARENTS as well!

I invite parents to come and visit our library and utilize the many
books we have available for future Robertson students still at home. We
also have adult resources for parents to utilize to support their child's
learning.

At Robertson Elementary, we are family!
