Welcome to the start of the 2009-2010 school year! I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year, and look forward to a great year. I would love for you to be involved in your child's education, and would be happy for you to volunteer any time in our classroom.
I will be teaching your child math and reading this year. We have already started out the year by learning reading strategies from The Cafe Book as well as The Daily Five. I will continue to introduce and reinforce these strategies with your child over the course of the school year. In math, we have been learning about place value to 99, as well as greater than, less than, and in between. This week we will begin learning about fact families. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week, we will be taking a 2nd grade Math Diagnostic test as a way to evaluate your child's strengths and areas of difficulty in math. We will review this test as we study new concepts throught the course of the school year.
