What is the PLAN and when should I take it?

PLAN helps tenth graders measure their current academic development, explore
career/training options, and make plans for the remaining years of high
school and post-graduation. As a "pre-ACT" test, PLAN is a good predictor
of success on the ACT Assessment. It also focuses attention on career
preparation. Students should take PLAN in the fall of the sophomore year.

What is the PSAT and when should I take it?

The PSAT us a great practice for the SAT Reasoning Test. It is a valuable
tool giving feedback to the student on how his/her scores compare to those
of 10th and 11th graders across the country. Juniors who take the PSAT may
qualify to enter the National Merit Scholarship Corporation programs for
scholarship recognition. Students should take the PSAT in October of their
junior year. Younger students may also take the test for practice. When
the student signs up for the PSAT, s/he will receive a Student Bulletin that
has useful information, including a full-length practice test.

Should I take the ASVAB?

The ASVAB is the aptitude and vocational interest test that the armed forces
give to people interested in joining one of the branches of military
service. Students who know for sure that they want to enlist should
definitely sign up for the ASVAB. Students who are still not sure of their
career choice could also benefit from this test because of the vocational
feedback it provides.
