Who is this guy?

I am a former engineer who has been teaching for the past five years. I taught
Algebra 1 and 2 at the Stony Point Ninth Grade Center and now engineering
classes at Round Rock.

I spent 20 years as an engineer and consultant in the computer chip industry
but felt that I could make a better contribution to the world by teaching.
Through my education and engineering work, I could see how critical math is to
almost every aspect of life. Anything that happens in the world can be
modeled by an algebraic equation, which helps us to expand our knowledge and
make predictions and improvements. I love to explore those mathematic
concepts and enjoy passing that excitement and understanding on to my
students.

I am married to the world's most gifted elementary teacher (who also works
in RRISD) and helped to inspire me to get in to teaching. We have two boys
who graduated from Stony Point, so I know what you are experiencing as
parents of a high school student.

I am also very much a tech geek. I am privileged to get to teach classes
where I get to play with some really cool tech toys as well as influence
young lives

My conference times are 2:40 - 4:00 every day. You can reach me by phone
during those times or after school to schedule a conference or discuss your
child's progress. However, email might be the best way to reach me.

Here is how I want to impact every student:

* To inspire students to explore further careers in mathematics, science and
engineering
* To give students the analytical skills necessary to approach and solve any
problem they may encounter, whether in mathematics, engineering, or other
areas
* To enable each and every student to achieve their full potential in the
study of mathematics
