I was born in New England and have lived in California, France, and now
Texas. I received a Bachelors of Science in Foreign Language Education from
the University of Connecticut and a 3ème dégrée "Licence" (pronounced "lee-
sonce") from the Université de Rouen in Rouen, France. I speak French,
Spanish and enough German to keep myself out of trouble in Germany! I have
been teaching French and/or Spanish in various private and public settings
for the past 15 years, and I am also a free-lance translator.
I have been married for 18 wonderful years. I have 2 kids, Alexandra
("Alex"), who is currently a Junior at RRHS, and Nick, who is a RRHS
Freshman. I also have one dog, 2 cats and a HUGE love of animals of all
kinds, except for maybe the slimy ones!
I truly love what I do. I am fascinated with the whole "language thing,"
with how languages originated and evolved over time. I try and share with
my students my knowledge of latin-based languages and their similarities to
eachother and to elements that we see in our own Engligh language. I want
for them not only to understand the material but to also start using
predictions about language patterns so that they will learn to analyze,
compare, predict and draw conclusions on their own. I try and direct them
to be the masters of their own learning. THIS is how they will learn the
most.
I am THRILLED to be in my fifth year of teaching Spanish here at RRHS! GO
DRAGONS!
Mrs. Orzech's Spanish students will develop an understanding and
appreciation of language and culture by engaging in motivational
activities designed to foster learning in the areas of reading, writing,
listening and speaking. Also...and for me this is the MOST IMPORTANT
THING...We will HAVE FUN while learning Spanish!
