Mrs. Dow is in her 12th year of teaching and all her years have
been at SGP. This is her fifth year of teaching AP Calculus, and she has
vast experience teaching Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. She earned
her B.A. in music performance (flute) from Principia College in 1997 and
later received her teaching certification in secondary math from UT-
Arlington. She recently received her Masters of Arts in Teaching Mathematics
from Texas Christian University. Mrs. Dow was nominated five
years in a row for Who's Who Among America's Teachers, was Teacher of the
Trimester in the Spring of 2003 as well as the Fall of 2004 and was SGPHS
Teacher of the Month in May 2009. She is passionate about teaching math and
hopes to make her classes fun and interesting.
Mrs. Dow is also teaching colorguard at South. Her first three years (1998-
2001) she served as Colorguard Director, and she returned last year to
revitalize the program. This past year, the guard had a great time and at
the end of winterguard season finished 3rd in the Scholastic AA-White
Division at the North Texas Colorguard Association Championships
competition. She is currently serving as the NTCA Secretary and Contest
Coordinator for the competitive circuit.
Mrs. Dow is happily married to her husband of 9 years and has three beautiful
girls, ages 7, 4 and 4. (Yes, she has twins!) She is excited about what
lies ahead in the 2009-2010 school year.
