What We Are Doing

November 2-6

Bible Study: This week we continue to study the lives of men and women who were chosen by God to lead His people. While these people might be considered "heroes", the real hero of each of these stories is God. By the grace of God amazing things happened through the leadership of sinful and helpless humans. What made these leaders effective was their reliance on the action of God. As we study these stories the children will understand that by the power of the Holy Spirit they will also be able to overcome obstacles in their lives, and that they too can be used as young leaders in God's kingdom. This week we will be continuing to look at the life of one of God's prophets Elijah.

Reading: Students will once again be able to practice determining an author's purpose as they read the story of "Pearl and Wagner". They will also be able to continue learning how to summarize, and to draw conclusions as they read a selection.

Grammar: The children will be introduced to verbs. They will have opportunities to practice using verbs in their work and writing.

Spelling: Our spelling list this week concentrates on words with "ee", "ea", and "y" making the long e sound.

Math: The children will continue working on 2 digit addition with and without regrouping.
