ESSENTIAL 55 Update
Our class has spent some time looking at "The Essential 55" by Ron Clark.
Clark, a teacher, has landed upon 55 rules that are practical avenues to
success not only in school, but in life itself.
In our classroom, we have introduced-
*responding to an adult when spoken to
*saying "yes ma'am, or yes sir"
*giving eye contact in a conversation
*looking at your teacher or a classmate in a classroom discussion
*affirming classmates when they have given a correct answer or done well on something
*when coughing or sneezing it is best to do it into your arm. Remember to wash your hands if you have coughed or sneezed into them.
*being responsible for homework-keeping track of it, turning it in on time...

Accelerated Reader
Each student is expected to be reading at least one accelerated reader book a week, and then testing on that book. You can help out by checking with your child, reading with them, and making sure that they are returning their library books on a regular, weekly basis.
Memory Work
Just a reminder to let you know that Memory work may be said when ready.
If two are assigned, both verses need to be learned.
Reading books may be brought home on Monday and students may read the story for the week, or any past selection for their Monday night reading.
