2-1-10
Thanks for all of your support with the science projects - they look wonderful and I can tell the students worked hard on them. We shared them in class today and judging is on Tuesday. The Science Fair is open for viewing after 5:30 on Tuesday and on Wednesday morning.
We are finishing up our PYP unit, "Where We Are in Place and Time", with an immigrant suitcase project. Students are creating a suitcase at home and are deciding on 5-10 culturally important items to bring with them. They will fill their suitcases with pictures (either drawn or printed from the computer) of their items. I explained to the students that they may be as creative as they'd like - I've provided file folders to use or students may create a suitcase out of a box at home. The completed suitcases are due by Wednesday, 2/3. We will work on the items that go in the suitcase here at school, although some students may need to finish these at home on Thursday. Students will also write a paper in class about their items, justify their choices and provided an explanation as to why each item is important to them and how it represents their culture.
Thanks for everything you do to support our learning!
