Early Release
Students will be released at 12:45 on Wednesday, February 10.
Valentine's Party
Our class party will be on Friday at 1:45. Please have your child bring in 20 Valentine's addressed to My Friend.

Book Bags
Book bags will go home on Mondays, with your child's purple homework folder. Two books are included in the bag along with an additional activity to be completed throughout the week. Please have your child read both books each night and return all completed work on Friday.
Snacks
Please pack your child a healthy snack each day. Snack option include: goldfish, pretzels, cheese and crackers, prate booty, yogurt, fruit, veggies, graham crackers, animal crackers, etc.
Language Arts
The students have been working very hard on their writing! Some of the students are working on sounding out the first letters of words while others continue to build their writing ability by adding correct punctuation, capitalization and spacing. The students who are writing are being encouraged to write more than one related sentence. We have made a list of what Good Writer's need to include in their writing (i.e. spaces, correct punctuation, and capitalization). The students are being encouraged to use these when writing!
We continue to work on the Daily 5 during our Language Arts block! The students are building their independence when they are doing "read to self" and many are using cooperation during "word work" and "read to partner."
In reading, the students continue to focus on sounding out the words they are reading! Here is our list of what good reader's do: Look at the pictures, Look at the first letter of the word, Use what they know about books (repeating lines, rhyming, etc.), Sound-by-Sound.
Math
We are working on measurement and the steps in solving story problems.
Library
Monday at 2:00.
Box Tops
WOOHOO! THANK YOU! Our class brought in over 1200 box tops. We did win a cupcake and cocoa party. Due to nutritional regulations, my understanding is that we have to have this celebration on a designated party day. As of right now, it is scheduled for Feb. 12th after lunch.
