For additional assistance, you may also contact the school office at 281-485-2845.Green Action Committee (GAC) News:- The Energy Audit for St. Helen Catholic School is beginning. Environmental Leadership elective students are learning how to use watt meters and to look for watt/amp information on appliances and equipment in our classrooms. We are trying to think of ways to conserve electricity (and save money). Did you know that appliances use electricity even when they are turned off? Something to consider when you ponder your electricity bill each month.....Care about the environment? Want to make a difference at our school, parish, or community? Consider serving on the Green Action Committee (GAC). We need students, parents, staff, and community representatives to make decisions about our school’s “green” plan. In order for St. Helen Catholic School to become an Eco-School through the National Wildlife Federation (NWF), the team must meet at least 4 times per year, conduct an energy audit, and develop an eco-action plan. This website shows the 7 steps to becoming an Eco-School: http://www.nwf.org/Global-Warming/School-Solutions/Eco-Schools-USA/Become-an-Eco-School/Steps.aspx We value your suggestions on GAC! Please e-mail your suggestions or questions to Betty Bouley, bbouley@sthelencatholicschool.org.To keep abreast of the happenings here at St. Helen, we encourage you to check out the Monthly Happenings link to the left of this section. Only a few tidbits from that newsletter are included in the Principal's Message.**An important reminder about bringing siblings when you volunteer or visit at school:While we are very appreciative of your volunteer hours, we must caution you about bringing siblings to school during your volunteer times. Siblings are not allowed in the classroom due to supervision and distraction issues. If you are working as a “decorator” in the hallway for various events or tutoring in the hallway, siblings are, again, not permitted. If you have a volunteer duty that entails you working alone or with a small parent group in the workroom (for example, counting funds or copying papers), you may bring a sibling IF the child is well-supervised and contained in your work area, away from other students. (Please check the Family Handbook for more specifics.) If you eat lunch with your child in the lunchroom, you may bring the sibling at that time. Thanks for your attention to this school policy!Thank you for visiting St. Helen Catholic School's website.
