I have taught students since my graduation from William Smith College in New
York with a B.A. in 1972. Later, I earned an M.S. in Education from
Nazareth College of Rochester. Subsequently, my husband and I moved to
Houston, Texas, where I taught at Christ the King,
Seton Catholic Junior High, the University of Houston (Main Campus)--where I
received my M.A. in English and served as a teaching assistant--and St. Pius
X High School. I have been in education for thirty-six years.
I have taught at St. Pius X High School for sixteen years; at St. Pius X, I
have taught all grade levels and a variety of courses including Reading
Development I and II, English I,II,III,and IV, AP English IV, Shakespeare,
America's Challenging Writers, ACT/TASP preparation, Chorus, and Music
Appreciation.
Currently, I teach one section of AP English IV, two sections of
Shakespeare, and two sections of British Literature.
My hobbies include antiques, reading, gardening, and traveling.
My pets include two French Poodles: one miniature, and one
toy.
This year my wonderful husband and I will have been married for thirty-six
years; we have an twenty-three-year-old son.
Our purpose in English class is to think about our role in this great, wide
world and how we learn through reading, writing, discussing, and listening;
our great aim is to make the world a place where all can thrive and grow
through communication.
