I would like to take a moment and introduce myself. I have a Masters in
Education and a B.A. in Social Work. I am certified to teach 1st through 8th
grade English Language Arts. I have been in the education industry
for over 16 years. I taught special needs teens in Chicago, moved to Austin
in 1992 and worked in early education, as a Director of a Preschool and later
as an Assistant Principal. This will be my fourth year at Star Charter School.
I have four children. Three of my children attended UT and my youngest
son is a junior at Texas Tech. I also have a three year old granddaughter
that is the apple of my eye. I love pets and have two dogs, one cat and
fish.
In my spare time I tutor at Oxford Learning Center and also tutor
independently. I enjoy sewing and golfing. Reading is also a hobby of mine.
I love to work out at 5:00 in the morning so I am usually here by 7:30 and
my door is usually open at that time.
I look forward to getting to know all of you and your fantastic children!
My mission for the class this year is to bring the joy of writing and
reading to the children through a lot of interactive and creative
strategies. I want them to leave saying,"Where did the year go? I had so
much fun I didn't know the time could go by so fast yet, I have learned so
much."
