I am in my 14th year in education, 12 of which were in Agricultural
Science. This is my second year at Steele High School, and I am very glad
to be here! We have such great students and staff!
"It must be remembered that the purpose of education is not to fill the
minds of students with facts... it is to teach them to think, if that is
possible, and always to think for themselves."-- Robert Hutchins
My goal is not only to teach students facts, but to teach them and encourage
them to reason things out and think for themselves through setting and
working towards individual and group goals. The courses I teach offer real
life skills that students will need in their future as productive citizens
of society, no matter what career field they choose.
My main classoom rule is: Make no problems! Make no problems with me, make
no problems with the school, make no problems with your parents, make no
problems with yourself, etc. Students are encouraged to think about issues
that might arise, and make good choices to prevent issues becoming
problems. If by chance an issue does become a problem, students are
expected to be ready for the consequences and make adult choices that will
help what could be termed a "mistake" to become a "learning experience".
