My name is Vianka Berain I was born and raised in Mexico but have been living
in the Austin are for seven years now. I graduated from St. Edward's
University in 2005 with an International Relations and a Education Degree. I
have also lived in Spain while I was in college and got a literature and
history of Spain certification.
This will be my 5th year teaching and LOVING every moment of it!
As a first year teacher I wanted to be the best teacher there was.. I
listened to peers and administrators while questioning my sanity that first
year.
Then, I decided to listen to my students and put myself in their shoes. Since
then I feel than in a few years I have gone through a metamorphosis. I now
understand that the first thing we need to look for in our classroom is a
connection with your students, a connection that goes beyond class subject.
I believe that when I am able to build relationships with the kids where I
understand them psychologically, ethically, and socially I succeed in helping
them intellectually.
I believe every kid has the ability of becoming something great. Greatness
starts here! And I hope to guide them down the right path by showing them
what it is to respect, love, believe, challenge and think.
