The guests who spoke the evening of Jan. 12th, shared a wealth of information that is important to all students and parents. Lucy Price, of Texas State Technical College in Waco, introduced us to the many two-year programs at TSTC. All of these programs are very affordable. David Schwartz is a Financial Aid Planner and will work with individuals to help them get financial aid. He can be contacted at 979.845.3236 or dschwartz@tamu.edu. Step one is to complete the FAFSA online the summer after Junior year (you will have to check the website below to see the date they open the website to accept new applications). To get a preview of what you might need in the way of financial aid, check out the FAFSA4caster at www.federalstudentaid.ed.gov. This is a great tool for students and parents of Freshmen and Sophomores and a great way to get a head start on planning for the future.

Is Bullying/Harassment a Problem in our School?

Our 9th graders have been taking a survey online to let us know if this is a problem at SP9. As a parent, you, too, can take this survey and we welcome you to do so. Log onto www.schooltipline.com.

Type in "Stony Point Nine Campus". Click on "Take a Survey". Choose the Parent Survey and you are ready to start.

We have contracted with School Tipline for the rest of the school year to provide this online reporting service to our school. Encourage students to report bullying, harassment, planned fights, or any other unsafe activity through this website.

PSAT Information:

This year, a record 217 9th graders took the PSAT! (Eight of our 225 tests were given to homeschooled students.) In addition, more than 75% of the 217 students attended one of the Test-Taking Skills Classes before the test. This class of 2012 is amazing so look out for many wonderful accomplishments to come from this class!

**** PSAT for 2009 is October 14th. Look for registration information around Labor Day.
