Top Text Title: Top Text: Hi! I am the counselor for students whose last names begin with Re through Z. You can contact me by e-mail at the address below or by phone at 424-8806. Education has been my life! I decided in 6th grade that I wanted to teach mathematics and that is what I did after college. Although I was not crazy about school myself, I knew that I wanted to teach students that math was really easy! After graduating with a double major in Mathematics and English, I taught secondary mathematics for 18 years. As a young teacher, I became interested in counseling and, eventually, was able to return to college to work on my Masters Degree in Educational Counseling. I have been a school counselor for more than 15 years. I still love math and teaching math, but I really enjoy helping students and families deal with the struggles of adolescence. Within the past 10 years, I have become an advocate for people with Irlen Syndrome. I am a Certified Irlen Screener. People with Irlen Syndrome are sensitive to certain light waves which can cause major problems with reading and other life tasks. In 2005-06, I trained a few teachers to Pre-Screen students so that we could identify and remedy this problem for students at Stony Point 9th Grade Center. Since then, these teachers have gone on to bigger and better jobs. My goal is to train some teachers this year to continue the program. I am also a certified Trainer for True Colors, Inc. This is a fun program that allows individuals to identify their own personality traits and learn how to effectively integrate these traits into their work/school/social environments. It is based on the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory. It is a great "Team Building" workshop for any organization. My husband, Paul, has been my cheerleader for more than 40 years. We have two grown children, Matt and Ainsley. Both of our children are Aggies even though Paul and I attended UT (one of those 'split' households!). Matt is a Human Resources Professional with IBM, married to Andrea, and they have two precious children, Logan, age 6 and Darbi, age 9, and now, Reese Aubrey, born February 20, 2009. Our daughter, Ainsley, is a mechanical engineer, working as an Interiors Engineer for AIR TRAN Airlines out of Atlanta, GA. All of these people are very special to me and bring me much joy and happiness. I also have a Bichon Frise named Beau. He is my precious little lap dog and loves to cuddle every time I sit down. We recently adopted another Bichon puppy and named him 'Lil' Bear'. He loves to climb all over our Lab, Molly, and they all keep us entertained. I love to read fiction books, travel, play games, do puzzles (Soduko, et al), go to movies and just be with people. Summer of 2006, my husband and I were able to Cruise Alaska! What fun! What food! What sights!!!!! Links Section Title:
