What do students learn in the Medical Terminology course?

Medical Terminology is designed to allow the student to learn 
many of the common medical terms that are used in any health care 
career.  Students will learn many word parts and then learn how 
to combine word parts to create medical terms.  Medical 
terminology is one semester in length.

What will students learn in Introduction to Health Science Technology?

Introduction to HST is desgined to give an overview of the 
therapeutic, diagnostic, envirnomental, and information segments 
of the health care industry.  The course focuses on health career 
exploration, leadership development, ethical and legal 
responsibilities, qualities of a health care worker, and the 
history of health care.  Intro to HST is one semester in length.

What should my student take next year?

Depends on their Health Science Academy strand.  Most students 
are encouraged to take HST 1 (either as an elective or 
requirement for the Academy) because they will learn additional 
information relating to health care and it counts as their health 
credit for their high school graduation requirement.
