I semi-retired in 2002 after 27 years in the construction industry. For
the next phase of my working life I decided to go back to an old dream of
being a teacher. Building on my Bachelor's degree from St. Edward's
University I entered post-graduate education classes at Texas State
University and was certified to teach in social studies and special
education. I am very excited to be here at Stony Point 9!
I have three children. Identical twin sons. One is a math teacher and
the other a recent from graduate from UT Austin. My daughter lives in New
York and is making her way as a budding producer, dancer, and actor in the
theater industry. Her current claim to fame is a dancing gig (she actually
got paid) with the popular hip-hop artist Fergie.
In my spare time I like to travel, camp, and visit ancient
archeology/rockart sites in the southwestern United States. I am a guide for
the Rock Art Foundation and Texas Park and Wildlife (see links page)
frequently leading tours to locations in west Texas. My other hobbies
include digital photography, backpacking, canoeing, and mountain biking. I
also make, play, and perform on indigneous flutes and drums.
To explore the world through the five themes of geography - location, place,
interaction, movement, and region. We will travel the globe learning about
other countries, people, and cultures. Always mindful of the five themes of
geography will examine contemporary issues effecting the environment and
people around the globe. We will examine how the global environment,
cultures and economies effect our lives and develop an appreciation for the
culturally rich and environmentally diverse planet on which we live.
