Classroom Procedures for Mrs. Douglass’s Class
You will be expected to ¡SALSA! in class.
S how actions that facilitate learning for yourself and others
Actively participate and be cognitively present
Learn and be open to new learning
Smile and share your positive attitude with others. This is not torture!
Abide by all SP9 expectations (no food, no drinks, no electronic devices)
If you choose not to SALSA:
1. Verbal warning
2. Conference with the student
3. Detention and call to parent/guardian
4. student-parent-teacher conference
When you come to class:
• Bring supplies to class
• Write down the agenda for the day -if you were absent the previous
day, you still have to fill out the agenda-You will have an agenda quiz
every 3 weeks !☺
• Homework is due when it is asked for at the beginning of the period-
turning the homework in during the same class period or by the end of the
day is considered late – turning in late homework ( up to the following
class period) will receive a maximum grade of 50. No credit will be given to
assignments that are more than one class late.

Extra supplies:
1. 2-3 dry erase markers
2. Kleenex for class or wipes.
3. markers, glue, scissors.
For your information:
• copying or cheating will result in NO CREDIT for the assignment for
all those involved- an excuse of he/she took it from me will not be accepted-
keep all work from eyes and hands of other students
• Extra credit will be offered- see website –however do not ask me for
extra credit at the end of the six weeks to boost your grades. Your effort
for this course is evaluated continuously throughout the semester. You will
not be given extra credit to pass the class based on a single project.
• Tracking your grades- you are responsible for keeping track of your
assignments and grades using you assignment log- proof is required when
there is a discrepancy between your assignment log and my gradebook.
Without proof, the grades in my gradebook will be final.
• Losing papers-you are responsible for all your papers as the first
copy will be given free of charge- should you need additional copies-
provide an e-mail address or check the handout section of the website to
download when available.
Grade Distribution:
TEST GRADE 30%
QUIZ GRADE 40%
DAILY/HW: 30%
TUTORING: On A days before school; on B Days after school. No tutorials on
Wednesdays, before or after school. No Tutorials on Thursdays after school.

Tips on Learning a Foreign Language
• Not only is it memorizing grammar rules and vocabulary, it is
practice!– we don’t only have to understand the ideas and concepts but also
make ourselves become accustomed to using what we are presented by speaking,
listening, writing, and reading in Spanish
• Don’t only use your visual memory, make your mouth or hand do what
your mind is learning!-study out loud, study with a friend (to involve
yourself in speaking and listening); try to write sentences or a short
paragraph using the skills you have practiced orally.
• Study everyday-we don’t get by in a foreign language course by
cramming in at the last minute, or trying to do your best the last week of
the six weeks
• Review “old topics” and “old vocabulary”- language learning is
cumulative-we have to recycle and build on “old” skills
• Don’t be afraid to make mistakes!
