Handy Math Links
Below are some links that might be helpful in understanding math and how math
is used in various places.
Out textbook publisher, Holt Publishing, has made the textbook and other
resources available online. You will need a login to access this site
(provided to your student by me), but it includes a complete version of
the textbook. As long as you have access to a computer connected to the
internet, you can get a copy of the textbook and homework assignments. Even
without registering, some help resources - including video tutorials - are
available on the site listed below (see next link).

Be sure to include the ! in the password. All letters are lower

Holt web site - requires ID and password
This is the link to the Holt Publishing web site for our text book. You can
access some help for each chapter of the book. There is even a Parent
Resources section to help refresh parents on the topics in each section so
you can help with homework.

This site is a pretty simple collection
of explanations and help on a wide variety of algebra topics. It is written
in fairly simple and easy to understand terms and is a great site for those
who may be rusty in math.

Mathworld.com is a good resource to get
answers to math questions. However, it is written for those with a high-
level of math understanding already. Honestly, there are things on this
site that make me say, "huh?". If I can understand it, I have found
most
everything that I have ever looked for regarding math topics on this site.

This is an online graphing calculator. It is a very good alternative to
purchasing a TI-83. This is the easiest to use and closest to the TI
calculator in how it operates of all of the options below.

Coolmath Online Graphing Calculator
Microsoft Graphing Calculator for Windows. This is available from Microsoft
but not supported by Microsoft. That just means that you have to figure out
how to use it on your own. Look for Power Calculator in the list of programs
available down the right side of the page. The advantage to this calculator
is that it can be installed on your computer. Once installed, you don't need
an internet connection to use it.

Mathwords web site. This is a good site to get help with math vocabulary.
