This is my 4th year with Stony Point and I am happy to say that I love my
job! I am blessed to work with an amazing group of people who share the same
philosophy as me- to ensure our kids are successful through team work and
collaboration. I serve in several leadership roles on our campus, as well as
in my duty as an educator. I am the Fine Arts Department Chair, the lead
collaborative teacher, and work with mentoring our new teachers.
I attended Southwest Texas and earned a B.F.A. in Acting with secondary
level education certification. I taught for a year and then returned to
college to earn a Master's degree. I got my M.A. in Directing with a cognate
in Shakespeare education. During that time I was fortunate enough to receive
a scholarship to study abroad with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the
Globe Theatre in England. While there, I also taught workshops to public
school students in inner city London. I have over 6 years classroom
experience. In the summer of 2010, I will be returning to school to pursue my
2nd Masters, this time in Educational leadership with principal certification.
My mission for my Theatre classes is:
Each student should walk away from the year with a respect for the
theatrical process. They will grasp the importance of teamwork, discipline,
and risk-taking involved. The students will make the connection that these
skills are not only crucial in theatre arts, but many other aspects of their
lives.
My mission for Teen Leadership is:
Each student has the CHOICE to be successful. It is up to them if they want
to make it. If they choose to do so, I will empower them to develop essential
skills for the journey. Students will learn how to become more effective
communicators, public speakers, and more responsible for their personal
actions through this course.
