Howdy! Welcome to our western themed classroom! Enjoy the tour!
Here is a view of the room from the door as you walk in.
And here is a picture of our door. Each students' name is written on a horseshoe.
This is our Birthday Board. Each barn has a month on it, and the students' names and birthdays are written on the small farm animals gathering around their birthday month barn.
Here are our lockers.
This is where we do Calendar Time every day. We change the number of the day, talk about place value, add the number to the hundreds chart, and do time and money using our number. We also talk about the date and discover patterns in the calendar tags.
Our Reading Fluency bulletin board is a place to show off our reading skills. Our goal by the end of the year is to read 90 words per minute. We will practice by taking weekly fluency tests and keeping track of our progress on our cow charts.
Here is our classroom library. We have lots of books to choose from!
This is our monthly calendar and job chart. The ranch hand jobs change weekly and everyone will get a turn at each job. Underneath the jobs are our Star Groups. Each colored table has a chance to earn "superstars" for good behavior. At the end of the day, the table with the most superstars wins!
Here is a picture of Mrs. Coots' desk. Above the desk are our Reading Counts hats. Each time we move up in our Shark Hunter ranking we will earn a star on our hat.
Each week Mrs. Coots will pick a "Cowpoke of the Week." This student will get to fill out the Cowpoke of the Week board with their favorite things. They may bring pictures, ribbons, certificates, etc. to decorate the board with. Right now the board is decorated with all of Mrs. Coots' pictures!
Our classroom rules are posted on this bulletin board. Each student has a WANTED poster that says something GOOD that they are wanted for.
Here are some close-ups of the Wanted posters. Justin is WANTED: For being a good friend, and Kaylin is WANTED: For being quiet in the lunchroom!
